Pakistan: All natural vegetal dyes and hand-spun wool. These beautiful carpets are woven by the Hazara refugees living in Northern Pakistan. In recent years many Hazara emigrated to Pakistan as refugees due to their enmity with the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan. The Hazara weavers produce a very finely woven supple carpet with a symmetrical or Turkish knot. This knot with the fine supple weave gives these carpets very much the look and handle of fine antique pieces. The wool is entirely hand carded handspun yarn and dyed using only the finest organic vegetal dyes sourced from local plants. The designs of this piece is based on a classic Persian design.
