This beautiful Timuri carpet is produced in Northern Pakistan by Turkman refugees. These rugs take their name from Timurid period of cultural renaissance during which the Central Asian Turks were greatly influenced by the Persian aesthetic traditions. Only vegetable dye stuffs are used in its creation: madder root comes from Central Asia and Indigo from India. Other dye plants are sourced locally. The wool is entirely hand carded, and handspun . As with all of our rugs, weaving takes place under supervision of adult master weavers and does not involve child labour. These carpets are amoungst some of our finest with a knot count of over 150 knots per inch.
