Turkey: All natural dyes and handspun wool. Tulga Tollu, the designer of this carpet, trained as an architect but left the profession three decades ago for the world of carpets. The combination of an artistic eye and familiarity with wool, structure and color has led to the creation of works of art that can be favourably compared to paintings. Three exhibitions have been devoted to his work at the Turk ve Islam Eserleri Museum in his home town of Istanbul. The most recent show was in April of 2003.
