Afghanistan: These kilims are woven using all handcarded, handspun wool wool from Afghanistan and all natural vegetal dyes. These kilims have a slightly rough primitive texture and a rich abrash from the natural dyes. This makes them look much like the antique kilims prized by collectors. The designs are primarily sourced from Persian tribal flat weaves. The Mogol weavers are a little known ethnic group from northern Afghanistan who are descendants of the Mongols who invaded this region in the 13th century.
