Afghanistan: Made using natural dyes and handspun wool. This line of rugs is unique in that it is made with a symmetrical knot , yet is finely woven (with about 140 kpi) and has a depressed warps. It is made by by Hazara weavers and the rugs name come from the central region of Afghanistan which is the traditional homeland of the Hazara. This line focus mostly on 19th century Persian decorative designs. These carpets were woven for years in refugee settlements in Pakistan during the Taliban rule. With the end of the Taliban regime, most of the Hazara people have returned to Afghanistan. The weaving of these carpets now continues in Kabul and in nearby areas of Afghanistan.
